Charles E. Root Jr.

My name is Charles Root, and I’m a “Born Again” Christian as well as a Christian Apologist. The Lord Jesus Christ is my master and personal savior. I know that He died on the cross at the hands of man, to pay a debt I owed to His father that I could never pay. My faith in Him and His actions have secured a place for me in Heaven.

Pretty arrogant words huh? I know this, I know that, Jesus is this, Jesus is that. Does it make you mad that I say them? Does it make you embarrassed that they are publicly spoken? Do you consider me naive?

I wasn’t always a true follower of Christ. I was raised religious but never had a clear path of faith. It wasn’t until my early 30’s that the truth of the cross was revealed to me.

I thought like many people do. I’m generally a good person, God will let me dwell with Him. That all the world’s religions were just different paths to my God. Oh and don’t speak about religion publicly you may make others uncomfortable. Christians are “bible thumpers” and “holy rollers”

One day I had the chance to express my fallacies to a co-worker, Jerry Knickerbocker. Jerry had an answer to every one of my questions, objections or misconceptions. I was still skeptical, even after he shut down all my debates. Jerry’s biggest weapon against me, for every point I brought up he’d ask “Where did you learn that” or “That’s not what’s in the Bible”. It made me think, yea, just about everything I learned about God, Jesus, and Christianity was taught to me by the media or someone else who wasn’t a Christian. Then Jerry told me one day, “You know until you read Bible you don’t have an argument” That was the day that changed my life. It was the day I decided that I was going to read the Good Book. That evening in bed I opened up the Bible to Genesis. Nearly a year and half later I finished with Revelations. I also picked up study aids to help me during my reading. I started to listen to other Christians like Ravi Zacharia, Alistair Begg, and Ray Comfort. I had now negated Jerry’s rebuttal, and yet remained defeated. Jerry was right, he was right in 100% of the things he told me about religion and Christ. I had read the Bible, studied this document, approached it with a skeptical and scientific mind, and came out the other side a complete believer.

I consider myself a fairly educated guy. I have a Masters Degree in Management of Information Systems, I’m an Emergency Medical Technician, I’m a Certified Network Engineer, I hold a Insurance Brokers license and I’ve headed technology departments for multi-million dollar companies. I’m not one to be snookered by a good fairy tale or easily be lead astray by a lie. I dug deep from a logical, scientific approach, an “apologetic approach” when considering the data the Bible was presenting me and have found it to be completely sound scientifically. My independent cross reference of other ancient text confirm events within the Bibles pages. This is no story dreamt up by some good writers. It is a message system: it’s not simply 66 books penned by 40 authors over thousands of years, the Bible is an integrated whole which bears evidence of supernatural engineering in every detail!

Now I know all your arguments, I made them myself. “It says the Earth is 6000 years old”, “It says there was giants” “How did the whole Earth flood?”, “A loving God wouldn’t care what religion you are” “Christians are brainwashed”. The answers to those questions lay within the pages of the Bible. Until you actually pick up that book and read it cover to cover, you have no argument. I would highly encourage you to do so. When you do and you realize it is the truth, you can get on your knees and honestly pray this prayer:

Lord Jesus, I am a sinner. But I believe that you died upon

the cross for me. That you shed your precious blood for the

forgiveness of my sin. And I believe that on the third day, you rose from the dead, and went to Heaven to prepare a place for me.  I accept you now as my Savior, my Lord, my God, my friend. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus, and set me free from my sin. And, because you are my Savior, Jesus,"I shall not die, but have everlasting life".

Thank you Jesus!

If you go through this process and for some reason do not come to Christ. Then that is fine. You have rejected Him, many have, many will. You will be in Hell when you die, removed from the sight of God. You will have demonstrated your free will. Enjoy your rewards here on Earth, they will be limited and they will be short. Matthew 7:13, 14 tells of people just like you. You are not a “bad” person, you are simply “not saved”, you will have much company in Hell. Remember though the narrow path to Heaven, Jesus, will always be open to you right up to your last breath. Make the right decision.
